My grandmother...Thelma Beatrice Nelson Carr..but everyone called her Bea...this is her with her daughter Shirley in the front yard of what I"m sure is the house at Rhonda. I lived with my Grandparents till I was 9 years old..I loved them dearly and they were wonderful to me..as you get older memories fade but I do remember that my grandmother loved to do jigsaw puzzles, loved christmas..hated to drive and didn't get her license till she was in her 40's , she loved going to sherwood lake and made me coconut cakes for my birthday..She loved Porter Wagner and always watched his show..I still remember her smile and her goulash (thats what she called it)..peppers,onions, tomato sauce and roast beef all mixed up ..my favorite when I was a kid. She fixed my booboo's, busted my butt when I needed it and got me ready for school every morning..My Mother told me that her brother Joe loved to come home and grab mamaw up in a big bear hug..she said that one time..he hugged her so hard he broke two of her ribs. I believe she worked for awhile as a nurses aid and I know that she never gave up trying to find out what had happened to Kenneth that caused him to be paralyzed. Sadly, when she finally did..it was too late to be corrected.
Thelma Beatrice Nelson was the daughter of Lewis L Nelson and his wife Elsie Evelyn Hamilton. Thelma was born on May 23, 1919 and had the following brothers and one sister:Herman Nelson b. 1913
Lewis Ray b. 1917
Basil Robert b. 1923
Kathleen b. 1926
Billie G. b. 1929
I am still trying to find more info on my grandmothers other brothers. I have found some records that indicate that Billie, Louis and Basil enlisted during WW2 but have yet to connect those records definitely to them. Kathleen past away in 1984 in Noble Indiana..She was Married to Wade Cooper who is also Buried in Noble Indiana but in a different Cemetery. It appears that they divorced sometime before 1975 and Wade remarried. I do recall she had 3 or 4 kids but the last time I saw them I was around 7 or 8 years old myself..At that time they were living at Kayford. I do remember that she came to my grandmothers funeral and possibly brought one of them with her.

Lewis Lonnie Nelson was the son of John Calvin Nelson and it is rumored his mother was Catora Baccus , who died during Lewis's birth or shortly thereafter. Supposedly, John Calvin was remarried 6 months after Lewis's birth to Mary Etta Thacker. Lewis was born on July 5th 1892 Ewington, Ohio. but given the dates of birth for the first 5 other children..all before lewis's birth..either Mary thacker already had them before their marrage or the rumor is just that..although all records do indicate lewis was catora baccus's son..

**Eliza Ellen Lilly, wife of Eber Willey, Jr. died in 1927 as a result of a fire. I have copies of the newspaper articles concerning this, as well as her death certificate. Her husband Eber Willey, Jr. died in 1926 (he was a Civil War veteran; I have copies of his pension records). Both are buried in the Hartwell-Cales Cemetery on Zion Mountain in Summers County.
